Prague, Moscow and St. Petersburg

Day 1
Depart from the U.S. for Prague.

Day 2
Arrive in Prague Airport, where you will meet your driver in the arrivals hall for the transfer to the centrally located hotel.

In the afternoon, enjoy an overview tour of Prague, which will include a visit to Prague Castle.

Day 3
After breakfast at the hotel, begin a walking tour of the old town of Prague. This tour includes a visit to the Jewish Quarter, the Old/new Synagogue and the Jewish Cemetery.

The afternoon and evening are at your leisure.

Day 4
Morning at leisure in Prague. In the afternoon partake in an excursion to the Bohemian Countryside to include a visit to Karlsteijn Castle.

Day 5
After breakfast a transfer takes you to Prague airport, for your flight to Moscow.

In Moscow, meet the driver and the guide in the arrivals hall. After check-in and some free time to relax, meet the guide in the lobby of the hotel for a tour of Moscow. The tour includes Red Square with the Moskva River embankment, the St. Sophia embankment providing a great view of the Kremlin, Gorki Park and the Crimean Bridge, Observation Platform, Victory Park and Sparrow Hill - just to name a few most important sights. You will also visit St. Basil’s Cathedral, a masterpiece of Russian architecture. It is one of the most original and impressive monuments in the world.

Day 6
After breakfast, enjoy a tour of the Kremlin with a visit to the Armory, the Assumption Cathedral, and the Diamond Fund. The Kremlin is the former residence of the Russian Czars, an architectural ensemble of unique beauty and buildings spanning 5 centuries (the earliest dating back to the 15th century, the latest to the 20th). The Assumption Cathedral, the main church of Russia, is the center of the Kremlin on Cathedral Square. The Armory Chamber in the interior of the Kremlin houses the treasury of the Czars, with unique collection of gold and silver ornaments. Lunch will be served in a downtown restaurant before the tour continues with a visit to the Tretyakov Art Gallery, the world’s biggest Museum of Russian Fine Arts. The art pieces range from the 12 c. Kiev Mosaics to contemporary paintings.

Day 7
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Moscow before your transfer to the train station. Board the train to St. Petersburg, travel time is about 6 hours. Meals are served in the dining car of the train. A transfer will be arranged from the St. Petersburg station to the hotel.

Day 8
After breakfast, your tour of St. Petersburg will include Basil’s Island, offering a beautiful view of Peter & Paul Fortress, the Hermitage, and the Admiralty. Nevsky Prospect, Palace Square, Senate Square, as well as the Field of Mars and the Summer Garden – to name just a few. The tour ends at St. Isaac’s Square with an interior visit of St. Isaac’s Cathedral. Following lunch, the St. Petersburg’s tour continues with a visit to Peter & Paul Fortress. The final stop will be at the Church on Spilled Blood, designed to resemble St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow. It is one of St. Petersburg’s most striking landmarks.

Day 9
After breakfast at the hotel, join the tour of the Hermitage Museum, which will include the Golden Store with the famous Scyphian Gold, the Sasanidian Silver and the unique culture relics of the Siberian Normands (Pazyryk). This afternoon travel to Pushkin, 14 miles south of St. Petersburg. Visit Catherine’s Palace, built by the same architect who designed Peterhof Palace. Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo) used to be the summer residence of Russian Czars. One of the greatest attractions of the palace is the Amber room, commissioned to be built in the 18th c. by Catherine II. Following a typical Russian dinner with entertainment, you return to St. Petersburg.

Day 10
This morning, tour the state rooms of Yusupov Palace with the Rasputin basement. Rasputin’s assassination took place in this palace in 1916. You will then be taken to the outskirts of St. Petersburg, to Peterhof. After lunch enjoy a private tour of Peterhof Palace, founded by Peter the Great on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland. The visit will include the Grand Palace, the Park, the grottoes and some of the smaller pavilions. Return to St. Petersburg by hydrofoil, for the last night of your tour.

Day 11
Early transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
